Two Dialysis A Day

Every year, nearly 2.5 lakh new patients in India are diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), creating an urgent need for more than 3.5 crore dialysis sessions annually. Sadly, for many families in the middle-income and low-income groups, the additional financial burden of ₹3–4 lakhs per year for dialysis treatment is simply unaffordable, leaving many patients without the life-sustaining care they need.

Committed to improving community health and supporting those in need, Rotary Bangalore Midtown launched a life-saving dialysis sponsorship program at P. D. Hinduja Sindhi Hospital in the Rotary Year 2020–21. Understanding the severe impact of kidney disease on underprivileged patients and the high recurring cost of treatment, the club began by sponsoring one dialysis per day, ensuring that deserving patients received essential dialysis at no cost.

Witnessing the positive impact and the growing need, Rotary Bangalore Midtown doubled its commitment during the Rotary Year 2023–24. The club now proudly sponsors two dialysis sessions per day at the same hospital. This enhanced support has significantly benefited economically challenged patients who depend on regular dialysis for survival and stability.

Through this ongoing sponsorship, at least 60 patients every month receive free dialysis, reducing financial stress on families and greatly improving the quality of life for those battling chronic kidney disease. The club’s partnership with P. D. Hinduja Sindhi Hospital ensures proper oversight, patient selection, and complete transparency in delivering these services.

This impactful initiative truly reflects Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and highlights Rotary Bangalore Midtown’s unwavering commitment to community health. By sustaining and expanding this essential program, the club continues to bring hope, dignity, and healing to those who need it the most.
