Spinal deformities such as scoliosis are increasingly prevalent among children from economically disadvantaged families. When left untreated, scoliosis can lead to severe physical limitations, chronic pain, respiratory complications, and a reduced quality of life. Early corrective surgery is critical; however, the high cost of treatment often makes it inaccessible for underprivileged children.

To address this pressing need, Rotary Bangalore Midtown, in association with Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bengaluru, implemented Project Scoliosis, a life-changing initiative aimed at providing corrective spinal surgery to children who otherwise could not afford specialised medical care. Through this project, children receive timely surgical intervention along with comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, enabling them to lead normal, active, and productive lives.

During the course of the initiative, Rotary Bangalore Midtown contributed ₹1.1 crore towards the treatment of children suffering from scoliosis. The project ensured proper identification and screening, surgical correction by experienced spine surgeons, and post-operative rehabilitation, including physiotherapy. Strict monitoring and transparent documentation were maintained throughout the project.

Project Scoliosis stands as a powerful example of Rotary’s commitment to compassionate healthcare and social equity. By restoring mobility, confidence, and dignity to young beneficiaries, the project has given many children a new lease on life and reaffirmed the club’s dedication to creating long-term, sustainable impact in the community.
