CRP Training Camp

About 5-6 lakh deaths in India are caused by sudden cardiac arrest of which 80 to 82 percent happen outside the hospital. This happens due to an irregular heartbeat and unless there is intervention within a few minutes, over 90% of such victims can succumb to sudden death. They hardly have any time to reach the hospital and unless we intervene immediately there is no hope for survival.

This is why accompanying friends, family or even strangers standing nearby need to play a crucial lifesaving role. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a skill which allows us to buy precious time till an ambulance or emergency response team arrives at the scene and the patient can be transported to a hospital. Learning these life-saving skills can make a real difference in an emergency as lives can be saved in around 50 percent of the cases if CPR is done within the first minute of the cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, only 1% of India’s Population is CPR literates. Rotary Bangalore Midtown, therefore tied up with Manipal Hospital, one of the most reputed Hospitals in Bangalore to conduct the CPR training for the citizens of Bangalore and for college students in particular and the aim is to teach at least 10,000 people. During the RY 2024-25, over 2500 students were taught CRP techniques.

By learning CPR, one can become the savers of precious lives.
