This is a Cancer Care and Treatment Project for the Underprivileged
Cancer is a growing public health crisis in India, affecting over 1.5 million people annually. The economic and emotional toll of cancer is devastating, especially for individuals from marginalized and underprivileged backgrounds who have limited access to timely diagnosis, quality treatment, and supportive care. Financial constraints often force families to abandon treatment midway, leading to preventable deaths and lifelong suffering.
Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, a reputed non-profit institution in Bangalore, caters to thousands of such patients from across Karnataka and neighbouring states. Recognizing the critical gap in affordable cancer care, Rotary Bangalore Midtown has joined hands with Sri Shankara Hospital to launch a robust, sustainable intervention to support cancer patients who cannot afford treatment.
This initiative is significantly bolstered by a generous contribution of USD 250,000 from PP Rtn. Jaishankar M R through Rotary International’s Global Grant as a Directed Gift. Together, these funds form a corpus of INR 4 Crores, ensuring long-term and high-impact support for cancer patients.
