The Bridge of Hope – Cancer Cure Initiative was started to address the growing cancer burden in India, where over 1.5 million people are diagnosed each year and many low-income families cannot afford or continue life-saving treatment. To support such patients, Rotary Bangalore Midtown, in partnership with the Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, created a sustainable, high-impact programme ensuring timely and affordable cancer care without fear of discontinuation.

The initiative is supported by a USD 250,000 directed gift from PP Rtn. Jaishankar M. R through Rotary International’s Global Grant, along with other contributions that have built a ₹4 crore corpus for long-term, reliable patient support.

Through this programme, a dedicated treatment fund provides free or subsidised care including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, diagnostics, and palliative support. It also promotes early detection through mobile screening camps and outreach, while patient navigators and counsellors ensure continuity of care, adherence, and emotional support.

The Bridge of Hope initiative reduces cancer-related deaths while promoting equitable healthcare access and long-term community well-being. Backed by Rotary Bangalore Midtown, the Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, and Rotary International, it stands as a compassionate, sustainable, and replicable model bringing dignity and hope to families affected by cancer.
