The 1st Anniversary of the Jeevamritha Human Milk Bank was celebrated on 15th May 2026 at St. John’s Medical College Hospital, marking one year of dedicated service in supporting premature and critically ill newborns through safe donor human milk. The Human Milk Bank is a joint initiative of Rotary Bangalore Midtown, MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation, and St. John’s Medical College Hospital.

Established to provide safe and nutritious donor human milk when a mother’s own milk is unavailable, the Milk Bank continues to serve extremely low birth weight (ELBW), preterm, and critically ill babies admitted to the NICU and MNICU.

The celebration honoured the extraordinary contribution of donor mothers whose selfless generosity has helped save countless newborn lives. Their dedication was recognised as a remarkable act of compassion and service to humanity.

On the occasion, Rotary Bangalore Midtown further strengthened the Milk Bank through the generous support of its donors. Ann. Geeta and Rtn. Pawan Poddar Foundation donated a pasteurizer, significantly enhancing the Milk Bank’s milk processing capabilities. Rtn. Vinay Chordia donated an autorickshaw to facilitate doorstep collection of donor human milk, Ms. Ekta Avinash Kukreja donated a freezer to expand storage capacity, and Ann. Arati Bhatia sponsored 300 sterilized storage bottles for the safe collection and preservation of donor human milk.

The anniversary celebrated not only a successful year of service but also reaffirmed the shared commitment of Rotary Bangalore Midtown, its partners, and generous donors towards giving every vulnerable newborn the best possible start to life.
